If you want a simple plug’n play I recommend a printrbot play, Einstart, or a M3d. The printrbot play and M3D have small print bed volume. All 3 printers are low maintance. My printrbot Simple was my first ever printer but I recommend if you go with a printrbot to invest in a software called Simplify3d.
Hey, I’d advise something you can use out of the box if you have no or very little experience. Many people wrong advise DIY kits to people who barely know how the printer functions. They only save money if you know what your doing, if not you waste a lot of time and money finding replacement parts or calibrating the part. Unless you want to build one and know how to avoid these printers!
There is no specific printer I could recommend, but there are a few to avoid. When looking for one first think about what you want to get out of the printer then look for features which will help you. For example if you want to print with ABS you’ll need a heated printer bed. For your first printer only get the features required, try to avoid additional features as they just add to the cost. Look into the reviews and background of a printer as like you’ve highlighted Da Vinci xyzzy is not very good. (I made that mistake some time ago!). Don’t waste money on something your may not be happy with down the line.
Heres a link to a good comparison between different printers which I’ve used to help some friends out
Hope this helps and good luck with your printer. Don’t worry if you make mistakes, it can take some getting used to. Just use this site if you encounter any problems and don’t know what to do. I’ve helped dozens and dozens of people out before and seen many other being helpful too.
